Finished the first draft of your manuscript but don't know what to do next?
The amount of information available online to tell you HOW to edit and publish your book can be overwhelming. Maybe you don’t know where to start? Or how to continue? Or how to know when you’re finished?
That's why I put together this quick checklist to keep your writing and publishing journey on-track (including extra tips to ensure you can get your manuscript as polished as possible)!
Other guides focus on the publishing process, but before you publish anything, you need to make sure your story or message is coming through loud and clear for your readers. This simple 5-step guide takes you through the editing process from first draft to publishable manuscript.
Sign up now to get the free checklist plus a monthly newsletter full of editing and writing tips.
It's short but sweet! This checklist will:
> Teach you editing best practice – it outlines all the steps your manuscript should go through, whether you’re planning to submit to agents and publishers or diving into self-publishing.
> Show you when you have to do the work, and when it’s time to get professional help.
> Set you on a straightforward path to getting your manuscript finished.
Hi! I'm Abigail, the human and editor behind Bothersome Words Editing & Writing Services.
I've been running Bothersome Words since 2004, during which time I have worked for Australian trade publishers including HarperCollins, Penguin Random House, Harlequin, Escape and Hachette, as well as UK publishers including Little, Brown Book Group, Hachette and Gollancz, and small presses in the USA.
I work regularly with emerging and self-publishing writers – editing, mentoring, and helping them to develop their work. I am also a mentor for Writing NSW and Queensland Writing’s Writer’s Surgery, and I run the Bothersome Words Writing Clinic.
I am fascinated by the different ways we learn about and understand stories, and I’m always excited to talk all things writing, reading, editing and publishing, so if you fancy a chat, come and find me online!
"Abigail is an incredible editor and industry professional. She can not only help authors improve their manuscript, but give them a broader understanding of the publishing landscape."
